On Saturday, November 7, three groups that don't share a calendar will all use the same few blocks of Nolensville Road. The Nolensville Farmers Market opens its winter season at the Historic Nolensville School. The shops in the Historic District hold their holiday open house. At 11 a.m., the Town of Nolensville sends its Veterans Day parade down the road past both of them. Each group set its own hours, so no one planned how the three fit together. On paper, the parade's 11 a.m. start lands inside the market's last hour.
That overlap shapes the morning. If you arrive at 11:15 for produce, you'll find the market in its final 45 minutes, with the parade already under way on Nolensville Road. If you arrive at 9, the whole morning runs in order.
| Time | What's happening | Where | Who sets the schedule |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 a.m. | Itty Bitty Donuts & Specialty Coffee opens | 7311-B Nolensville Road | The shop |
| 9 a.m. | Winter farmers market opens | Historic Nolensville School, 7248 Nolensville Road | Nolensville Farmers Market |
| 10 a.m. | The Village Antiques & Gifts and Churchill's open | 7289 and 7180 Nolensville Road | The businesses |
| 11 a.m. | Veterans Day parade begins | Rolling Hills Community Church, 7198 Nolensville Road | Town of Nolensville |
| Noon | Farmers market closes | 7248 Nolensville Road | Nolensville Farmers Market |
November 7 is the day the market switches seasons. The FranklinIs market listing shows the summer market open 8 a.m. to noon from May 2 through October 31. The winter market runs 9 a.m. to noon from November 7 through April 24, 2027. The market's own schedule on WilCo Events matches: October 31 is the last summer date, and November 7 is the first winter one.
The switch has two practical effects. First, opening moves an hour later, which cuts the time before the parade from three hours to two. If you're used to the 8 a.m. summer start, you'll find the gate still closed at 8 on the 7th. Second, the market spreads out. The winter listing on Marketspread describes a producer-only market with vendors both outdoors in the parking lot and indoors in the school gym, open rain or shine. The school sits where Nolensville Road meets Sunset Road, so it's right on the parade route.
The market's general description lists produce, several kinds of meat, baked goods, eggs, dairy, handcrafted items, and crafts, all sourced within Middle Tennessee, along with food trucks and music. The market's Linktree page still shows a general 8 a.m. to noon schedule. The season-specific listings say 9 a.m. for the winter market, so 9 is the safer time to plan around.
Look past the first week, too. The WilCo Events calendar lists winter Saturdays through December 19 and picks up again on January 9, 2027. The two Saturdays around the holidays aren't on it.
The Village Antiques & Gifts, at 7289 Nolensville Road, has been promoting November 7 as an open house for the district's shops. Its post also mentions that the parade comes through the district that day. In the shop's own words on its page:
"We will be all decked out with Christmas decorations. There will be refreshments, sales, giveaways & more."
The same post calls the day "this kickoff to the Christmas season." It also gives the only parking advice published for the day so far: use the lot behind the shops or the one down the road at the funeral home. The Town's parade page lists the route and detours but doesn't say when Nolensville Road closes or where to park.
The Village opens at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and stays open until 5. The open house keeps going after the market closes and the parade ends. On a day otherwise packed into the morning, it's the part that runs into the afternoon. The shop has also added Sunday hours, 1 to 5 p.m., starting October 18 and running through the end of December. That's useful if one Saturday morning isn't enough time.
The parade is the only one of the three that changes traffic. According to the Town of Nolensville's Veterans Day page, the parade starts at 11 a.m. at Rolling Hills Community Church, goes straight down Nolensville Road through the Historic District, and ends on Nolensville Park Road. The church's Nolensville campus is at 7198 Nolensville Road, and the market is at 7248 on the same road. The Town hasn't published how long the parade lasts or when it reaches any given point on the route.
The Town has posted four detours:
The Sunset Road detour matters most for market shoppers. Sunset meets Nolensville Road at the school, so anyone driving in from that side while the detours are in place will be routed through the Madison Mill neighborhood streets instead.
The parade has been around for a while. The Tennessean's photo retrospective includes the November 9, 2013 parade, with local veterans, Scout troops, the Ravenwood JROTC and marching band, and classic cars. WKRN called it an annual event in 2019. That year it included the Nolensville and Ravenwood marching bands, veterans, Scout troops, and police, fire, and county sheriff's departments. The Town is also asking veterans to submit their service information for a slideshow it plans to share on the Town website.
This year's parade comes a month after Founders Day on October 3, when the Town marked Nolensville's 30th birthday at Town Hall and buried a 30-year time capsule.
One familiar stop won't be part of this year's morning. Better Days Diner, at 7240 Nolensville Road, sat right next to the market's address at 7248. Williamson Source reported that the 1950s-style diner served its last day on Sunday, September 13, after more than a decade in business. It had operated as Hwy 55 before being rebranded as Better Days about three years ago. The same report described it as a gathering spot for local families, high school football teams and fans, and Bible study groups.
Without the diner, there's less sit-down food right by the market. The closest confirmed options are a short walk in either direction. Itty Bitty Donuts & Specialty Coffee, at 7311-B Nolensville Road, opens at 7 a.m. on Saturdays and closes at 4 p.m. Churchill's Pub, at 7180 Nolensville Road, opens at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. Farther down, Tropical Smoothie Cafe at 7344 Nolensville Road opens at 8 a.m. on Saturdays. The market's own food trucks fill in the rest.
Given each organizer's hours, the morning works best in this order:
November 7 is the first of two Saturdays like this. The Town's Holiday Parade page schedules the Nolensville Holiday Parade for Saturday, December 5, at 11 a.m., on the same route from Rolling Hills Community Church through the Historic District to Nolensville Park Road. December 5 is also on the winter market calendar, so the parade's 11 a.m. start again falls inside the market's last hour. The holiday parade uses the same detours, including the Kidd Road, Brittan Lane, Rocky Fork Road, and Sunset Road routes. Parade entries are due by 4 p.m. on November 30.
The night before, on Friday, December 4, Town Hall hosts Santa storytime at 6 p.m. and a tree lighting at 7 p.m., with a coffee truck and the Nolensville High School Choir. That makes December 4 and 5 a two-day stretch, with the Saturday following the same timing as November 7.
Saturdays like November 7 are part of what makes Nolensville feel like home, and they come up when we talk with neighbors about their own plans. If you're thinking about what your home is worth to the next owner who'll walk to that market, Donna Stumpf is happy to talk it through over coffee at a time that suits you. Let's Connect.
